Savi Technology was founded in 1989 and today is a wholly owned company of Lockheed Martin. Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, Savi provides an array of technology solutions that help track and organize high value assets for both government and commercial organizations. We also partner with leading technology companies, service providers, and system integrators to supplement our “footprint” and our ability to deliver the specialized solutions our customers require.
Savi was an early leader in the area of RFID tracking technology. This technology was put to the test early in Savi’s history during 1990 and 1991 with Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm with the United States and allied military. Savi Technology was instrumental in helping US troops track supplies, spare parts, and shipments of materials. It turned out to be a demanding early proving ground for our technology, under the harshest and most demanding conditions. During the next several years, Savi developed a strong and well-earned reputation within the logistics and supply chain operations of both US DoD as well as allied defense forces. By the early 2000’s the use of tracking and logistics technology had become so essential to the movement and tracking of materials and supplies, that the US DoD issued a directive over the use of RFID tagging, mandating its use on shipments of materials and supplies. Savi Technology enjoyed rapid growth during the decade as additional military applications of the technology were rolled out and allied forces began to standardize on our technology. Savi currently has the world’s largest RFID network, in 52 countries.
As RFID technology became the accepted standard for tracking in the military, it also became popular in the commercial sector, and Savi expanded its business into select commercial applications. Today, Savi continues to enjoy a leading position in serving the US and allied military, and sees growing demand for commercial applications that leverage Savi’s expertise in this area.
Today, Savi is rapidly evolving into a diversified provider of technology that is used for the tracking of high value assets. Working with a substantial ecosystem of partners (link to partner page) we provide solutions that leverage hardware, software and services that can track and monitor assets in almost any condition virtually anywhere in the world. We are also an active participant and supporter of critical industry standards, such as ISO 18000-7.
