On Sunday, May 3rd, 2015, Savi Technology took part in the Hopecam 5k charity race to help children with cancer. Hopecam is non-profit organization that helps children overcome the social isolation they may experience when in treatment for cancer. This year, Savi participated in the event as a corporate team to help Hopecam get more kids connected this year.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it is important to keep the child connected to school and friends. By virtually connecting these children with their friends over Skype, Hopecam decreases the loneliness and anxiety they experience during this frightening time. Hopecam provides the child with a tablet computer equipped with a webcam, Internet access in the home if the child is without, then work with the child’s school to persuade them to establish a regular connection with the child during which the child can participate in classroom activities, and see and talk with their friends.
